The Hospice Music Therapist is a clinician who provides music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship.

My commitment will include:

  • Using music to achieve therapeutic goals, including but not limited to motor skills, social/interpersonal development, comfort, self-awareness, and spiritual enhancement.
  • Educating and promoting music therapy within hospice.
  • Communicating regularly with the interdisciplinary team, completing necessary documentation and consulting the supervisor or Registered Nurse when appropriate.
  • Participating in the implementation of and development of the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care to ensure quality and continuity of care.
  • Providing necessary skills to appropriately report changes and document pertinent information and care rendered to the patient to ensure continuity of care.


  • Education: Degree in Music Therapy from a program approved by the American Music Therapy Association.
  • Licensure: Current MT-BC certification required. Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience: Preferred one (1) year experience in an approved AMTA site. Hospice care experience desirable.
  • Skills: Requires interpersonal skills, supervisory & communication skills. Must be proficient at performing with at least one instrument.
  • Transportation: Reliable transportation.
