HospiceDirector or Nursing


 


Summary:



Provides overall administration of allclinical areas, and ensures the quality of patient care provided in thehome.  Monitors appropriateness ofstaffing and productivity.  Coordinatescare with the interdisciplinary team, patient/family and referring agency.  Monitors and analyzes QAPI issues and directsclinical staff with regard to agency policy and procedures.



The DON is responsible  for day-to-day oversight of clinicaloperations  for the parent and its branch locations to ensure regulatory compliance, as well as clinicaland financial success. Having expertise in the home care/hospice arena, s/he serves as a resource to the clinicalteam.   The DON collaborates with the Administratorand/or RN Branch Manager(s) to determine training needs of the clinical team and then seeksto obtainin-service programs, as  needed.    The DONperiodically evaluates all  services  and programs in an effort to improve care coordination, the quality & continuity of care and toplan effective utilization of resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Education/Skills                             


Graduate of an accredited Diploma,Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing
Certification/Licensure                


Must be a registered nurse licensed inTexas, or in accordance with the  Boardof Nurse Examiners rules for Nurse Licensure Compact.  Must have a current Texas Driver’s License.


Training


 Must have at leastone year of management or supervisory experience in a health relatedsetting.  Must complete a minimum of 12hours of continuing education within each 12- month period after the date ofdesignation to the position.  Mustcomplete CIMA’s on the job internship training with an assigned mentorutilizing agency specific competency modules. Employee will function under the supervision of a mentor untilcompetency has been demonstrated in all appropriate areas.  


Special Requirements    


Strong leadership and organizationalskills.  Excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills.  Exhibition of goodjudgment and ability to work independently. Must possess a motor vehicle ingood working condition, which is available during work hours, with currentproof of insurance and a valid drivers license. Must agree to and pass a criminal history background check.
