Job Description

TheAttendant fills a very important position at Jordan Health Services.  During an orientation conference, which maybe conducted in a client’s home, the Attendant is introduced to the client andthe approved tasks to be performed by the Attendant are reviewed andexplained.  The Attendant goes into thehome of his/her clients on a scheduled basis to provide personal care and/orhousehold maintenance chores for the elderly and/or disabled individuals whocannot do so for themselves.  Thisinvolves such things as cooking certain meals for the client, assisting withpersonal care, transferring and ambulating, shopping, escorting and cleaningthe client’s home.  The Attendant spendsa lot of time with clients in their home, and therefore must be verycompassionate, patient and responsible. He/she must also be constantly aware of the client’s safety andwell-being and be ready to assist in emergencies.



Job Requirements

Experience

  1. One (1) year’s experience as an attendant providing personal care services, preferred.

  2. Certified Nurse Aid or Home Health Aid, preferred.

Skills & Abilities

  1. Have the ability to motivate others in a positive manner.

  2. Have the ability to read and write.

  3. Have the ability to understand and carry out instructions.

  4. Have a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick, the elderly and the disabled.

  5. Have the ability to communicate effectively with patients, with their families and with co-workers.

  6. Have the ability to organize work and schedule effectively.

Other

  1. Must have satisfactory references from previous employers.

  2. Must be at least 18 years of age, or under 18 and be a high school graduate or be enrolled in a vocational education program.

  3. Must be able to pass a criminal history check.

  4. Must be able to pass a random drug test.

  5. Must be able to provide own dependable transportation to and from client’s home.

    Physical Requirements:


    1.   Moderate to heavy lifting on occasions.


    2.   Ability to participate in physical activity.


    3.   Ability to do extensive bending, lifting and standing on an as required basis.


    4.   Ability to work for an extended period of time while standing and being involved in physical activity as


                       required.
